The males really like to hang out right next to the female all the time. The first 2 shots are a pair, the third a pair with a fry.

The next shots are a male, female and young male.

It seems to be a really polymorphic population...
Mine are quite diferent, a clearer body and darkest fins... will try to catch a shot.

All of my male Guadalupe Aguilera have about the same coloring but the ones I noticed have been different among the group I have are the Amado Nervo. Of the three I have locations on including the Los Berros, I think the Guadalupe Aguilera are the most attractive. My lateralis without a location are also very attractive, the males are very red throughout their bodies. I really love the Characodons and am hoping to eventually get all the known available locations.

I took some more photos of these today. Like I really need to put up more right? Smile But I can't seem to post photos tonight, very strange. My female gave me at least 12 new fry. They started coming last night, there were more this morning and she had a tail coming out of her vent area for some time. It was kind of interesting. The tail was moving on it's own and sideways to her. I was hoping to get a shot of the fry coming out of her but missed that one, still I have some that hopefully you can see the tail and some of the new fry.

Ok this isn't the prettiest fish picture but it did show the little tail coming out of the mama the best.

Mom and babies are doing great but I've way over fed them the last couple days so now I'm going to have to do a water change before I have a real mess on my hands. Shocked

I know you guys are going to get tired of all my photos. And I've hardly begun but I really love photographing my fish and tanks. Here's one of the new fry.

gupp mate u r so wrong there. your photos are professional and you capture the true beauty of this species. also not many fish keepers get the chance to see there fish give birth as this is the case especially in goodeids because some give birth at night. you have captured this moment for the whole world to see, and we all thank you for that Very Happy

Those are very nice looking characodons. Is there wild population still going strong or is it have trouble like many of the others that I have read about. Out of all the goodieds that I have been reading about the characodon group is by far my favorite.

Try looking in the articles section; there is a great article by Juan Miguel Artigas Asiz in there on Characodon, their locations etc in there.
